Last weekend was the first lovely summer weekend that Evan and I truly enjoyed outdoors. The whole month of June was washed away with April showers. Finally, Evan got to play in his sandbox. He didn't even mind the wet sand. Except he wouldn't sit on it.
The sandbox is next to my veggie patch, so that I can watch him while I weed the garden. When he gets bored, he joins me and weeds a little too. He learn not to pick up slugs (he started to yell "Icky! icky! icky!" after picking one off his shoe) and he calls the veggies "trees"

"Hop on, jump in!"
We got Evan a sandbox this year. One fine Saturday afternoon, Mommy and Evan decided to put it together. When Evan saw the screwdrivers, he immediately got into the building part, and sang Handy Manny's "hop on, Jump in" song as he helped me build it - I admit, we got it backwards at first but after much confusion, we got it right.
He was a terrific help. He knew where all the screws and washers went. The only thing he hasn't picked up is Daddy's verbal "encouragement" when putting stuff together. Those monologues usually ends with "....IKEA sucks."
After much work, he needed a break
And then back to work
Ahh, nothing taste as good as a pepsi after a hard day's work!

His blue blanket
Evan is very attached to his blankets. In the mornings, he wraps himself in the blankets before leaving the room. He takes it to Gramma and Papa's when he stays over and I understand that it even joined them at church on Sunday.
We have to sneak the blankets away to wash them. This is Evan this morning, anxiously waiting next to the dryer for his blankets.
Jim tells me that once the blankets were out, warm and toasty, Evan wrapped himself in them and rolled around the living room carpet singing "blanket, blanket."
Imagination Movers
In the past few months Evan has become a great fan of Disney's Imaginatin Movers, espcially the drums Mover Rich plays. He adopted chopsticks as his drumsticks, and overturns bins and uses stools as his drums. He watches their show in a loop (Comcast OnDemand) and Daddy has unwillingly memorized most of their songs.
The weather was beautiful, so Evan thought he'd give the neighbors a concert with his makeshift drum set.
Who needs a gym membership when you have Evan?
Patty!! Patty!!
Wheee!! Balloons!
Someone brought ballooons to work for a video shoot and I got to take them home. These balloons lasted almost a week, spending the days in the living room and the nights in Evan's bed with him. If you tried to take them out, somehow the balloons found their way back to his bed by morning.
Daddy had a lot of fun with the balloons too...

Basket head
the show imagination Movers had a feature on school bands. The band members wore those headgears that, to Evan, looked like baskets. That afternoon, he decided that to go "kai-kai" he has to wear a basket over his head as well and marched to to car. He even wore the basket into the grocery store! TV is such strange influence.
Can I share
Ahh, our belated announcement
